Simple Content Strategy for non-profits with examples

Step #1 Freewriting, podcasting or a video journal

Dont worry, this doesnt have to be released at all. No pressure at all. Get your intern to start writing about the organization and what he does. Ask him to sit down with a few people around the office and just ask them questions about about what they do and why they enjoy it.

Step #2 use the freewriting to guide a long form video

Now that you have a bunch of videos or rantings or audio files, go through them and see if theres something that jumps out as valuable or inspirational or an interesting story that is worth telling. Once you find that thing, either make a new video using that content as a starting point, or just stitch together those pieces and make the new content.

Step #3 Take your long form video and cut it into small single idea chunks then distribute as short form content.

Theres no single way to do this either, you can get creative here. But if you need an idea to start out with, try this. If your longform content answers 5 questions then cut each question into its own piece of content. Another idea is if your long form content tells a story, cut the story into small pieces and release each piece individually. Try to keep the pace as fast as you can. Imagine your long form video is a full song. The short form pieces should be your chorus, your bridge, and your verse.

With those cuts, release them slowly tiktok and/or instagram. Maybe once a week. Then review, revise, and iterate.

Here are a few examples of this being done:
